My whiteboard

The whiteboard on the outside of my door is very dear to me. I've had it up all year since I got here for band camp. It's only held on to the door by those command picture hangers. Essentially, it's just like Velcro. So, over these many months, it's been stolen twice. The first time, I came home from the sleepover at Julia's before the Purdue game just to grab a few things before going to hundred hall. I saw that the board was gone, leaving just the little strips on the door looking quite sad and lonely. I put a post-it note up on the door saying, "Felicia misses her whiteboard". It stayed like that for about 3 or 4 days, and then someone knocked on my door and was like, I think I know where your whiteboard is. I think it's in the Curry lounge. Curry is the guys wing right next to mine. He went over and found it for me, and other than the marker being missing that had been taped to it and a few cracks, it was totally fine. I told him I was grateful for letting me know. Apparently, Friday night, a group of guys got completely wasted and trashed the lounges in the hub of the building, which is where I live. I guess that's something guys like to do when they're drunk. So, needless to say, I did get my board back, taped a new marker to it, and put it back up on the door so it looked good again.

The second time my board was stolen was about 10 minutes ago. I know what it sounds like when someone writes on the board, and I don't mind people doing that, because there's nothing they can write that wont come off somehow. This was not that sound. It was clear that it had been pulled off the door. I was just sitting here, minding my business. So I got up, opened the door, and there were about 6 or 7 guys in the hallway going into our lounge which is right across from my door. I like to think I'm a generally nice person and such, but I'm pretty sure my face looked like I was going to kill because the guy holding my whiteboard dropped it and started running. The whole place reeeeeks! I don't want to go outside because it smells bad. I generally like living in the hub because it's quiet, but on nights like this, it's very annoying, because drunk guys aren't usually smart enough to unlock the doors to get out of the hub, so the place gets trashed. O well. No big. I just brought the board inside for now. In it's place, I put another post-it note that says, "You're idiots". I hope they read it and get mad. Haha.

Steak 'n Shake

Let it be known that in the past 2 days, I have been to steak 'n shake twice. How pathetic is that? I just think it's funny because when I first got here and saw the first steak 'n shake, it sounded sooo disgusting. Haha. What I've found...is it's actually quite good and I like it a lot. It has also been interesting because both times I was there, I was there after midnight. The first time we got there before midnight and just happened to stay until afterwards. The second time, I don't think we even got there until after 1 in the morning. Good times. I really like their shakes. Cookie dough is very good. The first night, it was the normal gang, the second night was slightly different. I was with all of Julia's group of people. They are quite hilarious I must say. I had a ton of fun with them. I can't wait to bring people from home to a Steak 'n Shake, because they are awesome! Haha.

Welcome back to Indiana

Well, with the new year and a new semester, I'm trying out a bunch of different things. New hair, New health routines and such, and a new outlook on life, for starters. I guess all I need to round it off is a list of new classes for the semester. This one's gonna be pretty full...
Brass Tech
Music Theory 152
Listening Skills 132
All Campus Band
Regular Band
Basketball Band
Harp/Horn/Cello Lessons
And an assortment of master classes

yay.....not. I get to start 8am tomorrow morning.

I was astonished to find out that Julia never heard "Can
I have yo numba?" before today! I should probably be ashamed that I pretty much know it completely by heart. I loved finding this bumper sticker. I actually went in a woke Rebekah up at 1 am to show her before sending it to her. It was just too perfect for her.
There's the perfect way to merge two things she knows completely by heart. I'm still convinced those crazy people on the QO Colorguard are corrupting her. Haha.

Today was my first full day back in Btown. Yesterday was something to behold. So after having a late start leaving the house due to suitcases mysteriously gaining weight out of nowhere and weighing 51 pounds and such, and doing a ton of shifting until they both held around 47 pounds, we set off to BWI. I arrived about 49 minutes before my plane was supposed to be leaving, and yesterday was the day that everyone decided it would be a good time to take a really long time to check in and get their bags checked. It took me about 25 minutes just to get checked in and get them to take my bags.
So, now I can go through security, and I get stuck behind the person that has like 10,000 metal things on him and takes forever to get through the metal detector. Then the security person was taking a really long time looking at my horn case in the xray machine. I was like, OMG! IT'S JUST AN INSTRUMENT NOT A BOMB! LET ME GO!! So after getting that and my carry-on and shoes and coat back, I grab everything and start sprinting to my gate. Mind you, I did not put my shoes on. I ran in socks across the terminal. I was NOT missing this flight if I could do anything about it. I don't want to think about what I might have been stepping on. So, of course, my gate is waaay on the other side of the terminal, and down the stairs. So I run the whole way, get to the gate, and she's like, Oh, we're running late, you've got about 15-20 minutes. Yay, but Grr...So, I take this time to actually put my shoes on and get on the airplane. Thank goodness it was pretty empty. Most people had their own row, so at least there was plenty of room for my big carry-on and French Horn. The flight itself was alright, really turbulent in some places, but other than that, pretty much fine. It was so foggy when we landed in Indianapolis. I was looking out the window, and I saw the runway about 10 seconds before we hit it. I would not like to be flying a plane in that weather. Thank you to my pilot for not killing us.
So, yes, got to Indianapolis, where Julia was waiting to pick me up. I go down and throw my carry-on stuff in her car and go to wait for my checked stuff. I sit and wait, and lo and behold, only one bag actually shows up. I go and talk to the person, and she's like, well, you had a late check-in, so it must still be in Baltimore. The next flight comes in around 7. It should come then, and you can come back to the airport to get it. OMG! So frustrating. Mind you, it was only about noon at this time. I was not sitting in the airport for 7 hours! So I took my one suitcase, got in the car, and Julia and I made our way to Btown. After a stop at McDonalds and some talk of nugs, we took the hour trip home.
I tried to not be upset, but it was hard. 7 hours later, I'm trying to get in touch with the people who know about my suitcase, and no one has any idea about it. Around 8, I get a call saying that my bag is sitting in Indianapolis. If I want it shipped to me, it's going to cost me 40 dollars. Was it my fault? Sorta, not completely, but I don't think I deserved to pay, but whatever. They couldn't do anything to get it to me, so around 8:45, Me, Julia, Jodi, and Ashley pile into Nick's car, and he drives the hour to Indi to get the bag.
Once we get there, I go in, and of course, the door to the office is locked, and no one is there, expect this guy who's freaking out cause he was supposed to pick up his daughter who he hasnt seen in 14 years, and he can't find her, and no one is there to help him. I wait around, and about 10 minutes later, the person comes back to open the office. This guys storms in there and demands to get some help, but the airport people can't disclose any information to him about his daughter as a matter of privacy. He finally, after 10 minutes, storms back out. I FINALLY get my bag, and we get in the car and drive back to Btown....again.
At least this story doesn't end with me getting home, opening the bag, and finding that everything is gone or something. I'm glad everything did work out in the end, and I'm especially glad I could get a ride there and back. It was such a mess, but turned into quite an adventure, though I'm in no rush to do it again. Sheesh. Welcome back to Indiana.
